Educational Philosophy

The Scholars’ Academy will be a place where gifts are nurtured, and individual pace is respected.

Our curriculum is emergent, hands-on, authentic and responsive and will include thematic interdisciplinary units, “real-world experiences”, project-based study including inquiry learning, independent student research and presentation, as well as learning contracts, primary sources, fine arts and performing opportunities, service leaning and traditional direct instruction to create true individualized learning opportunities that to engage and match each student and exceed National and New Hampshire State Standards.

Our innovative instructional strategies will foster critical thinking skills, facilitate the exchange of ideas, build relationships and truly make connections between ideas, our environment and our community.

We will promote collaboration by utilizing multiage flexible grouping. Our teachers and students will have the flexibility of grouping that best meets the needs of each child in each learning situation ranging from independent study and small cooperative groups to whole school groups.

We are committed to maintaining a staff of dynamic professionals capable of generating a charged, nurturing environment ripe for individualized learning. Our teachers will be mentors and guides, setting high standards for mastery and requiring commitment from every student.
